In 2016, we officially released Prisoner’s Kids: The Invisible Victims of Crimean evidence-based report, prepared by Nova Smart Solutions, examining the importance of a holistic approach to crime.

Read the full report here.

The report highlights the importance of addressing the unique needs of prisoner’s kids and diverting them from generational crime via projects specifically tailored to their needs, such as PK Mentoring Camps and PK Family Care.

Key findings included:

  • “…imprisoning a parent increases the likelihood of their children becoming incarcerated by up to six times.”
  • “PKs (prisoner’s kids) remain largely invisible and do not feature as a priority for government policy and statutory welfare bodies.”
  • “International research shows “social programs targeted to support PKs has a positive impact on their lives and a very high return.”
